The Manny Pallet from Makeup Geek is probably one of the most anticipated pallets since the first Urban Decay Naked pallet. It is currently out of stock on the Makeup Geek website but they are manufacturing more and you can sign up for notification when it is restocked.
I've watched many YouTube reviews and tutorials on this pallet trying to decide if I want to purchase it or not. In the past I have not had the best luck with Makeup Geek shadows. Granted I have only tried the foil shadows so I can't talk for all they offer but still I'm on the fence. Seeing as how I'm only interested in Insomnia, Aphrodite, and Mars aka the bottom row of the pallet, I decided to find dupes.
After watching so many people talk about this pallet on social media I noticed one thing ... everyone, myself included, is mostly obsessed with the shade Insomnia. (the shade in the bottom row on the left) On the Makeup Geek wesbite, Insomnia is described as "a warm red brown with blue reflects and a metallic finish." It's a beautiful shade with so much dimension, luster, and an awesome iridescent payoff.
Last night I went to my local Ulta in search of dupes!
The first shadow dupe I came across was No Faux "iridescent snakeskin" by Buxom. This single shadow is available as a refill to build your own Buxom pallet. It is available for $12.
These shadows are described on Ulta's website as follows:
"Featuring primer-infused technology to help keep color locked in place, the powerfully pigmented eye shadow formula glides onto lids delivering intense payoff with an ultra-luxe, powder-to-silk feel. And with finishes ranging from plush matte to shimmering metallic to sparkle and duo-chrome, each shade contains mesmerizing possibilities."
This shadow is incredibly pigmented and smooth! You get more of a green/teal finish but there's that red brown richness to the base.
The new shadow dupe I found was from Butter London in their Shadow Clutch Wardrobe duo sets in Fancy Flutter. This duo is available for $15.
These shadow duos are described on Ulta's website as follows:
Butter London's primer-infused, oil absorbing shadows deliver all day, crease-free wear. Style them individually or layer them together, they offer seamless blendability in a range of vivid, decadent shades for intense colour payoff meant to take your look to the next level."
I love that this particular dupe comes with a transition shade. Just like the Buxom, this shadow is extremely pigmented, iridescent, and bold. This shadow's base of that red brown shade is more prominent than the Buxom one.
I'm by no way saying you shouldn't buy the Manny pallet BUT while you wait for it to restock OR if you're in it just for the ONE shadow ... pick up these dupes! Both brands mentioned are amazing, long-lasting, and decently priced.
I also like finding dupes so that I can go between both, it makes the shadow last longer!
