When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
Oh, Miles Archer ...
This book is ugly. You hate Rachel and what she did to Miles. You hate Miles for using Tate. You hate Tate of being so stupid. You f***ing hate Dillion. This is book is love. You love the messed up relationship of Miles & Tate. You love Cap. You love and want a brother like Corbin.
Miles Archer and Tate Collins first meet when Miles is passed out drunk in front of her brother's apartment door the day she moves in with him. After dragging his drunk body into the apartment, Tate notices Miles is crying, she feels sorry for him and goes to comfort him, he reaches out and calls Tate 'Rachel.' Tate knows whatever Rachel did to Miles or whatever Miles did to Rachel, the pain he's going through must mean he's truly hurt by it. Miles is friends with Tate's brother Corbin, they are both pilots for the same airline and went to flight school together. The next day when Miles is awake and sober, he doesn't get off on a very good foot with Tate, Miles however, has completely taken over ever sense of Tate. She's taken back by the V in his abdomen, the scruff and scar on his face. Miles continues to be stand off-ish to her and she vows that next time they meet it should be on the right foot. A few days later they meet 'on the right foot' and start to form a connection. Miles wants Tate for sex, Tate wants Miles for any way he'll give himself to her. She knows this will get messy but she lies to him and to herself. Miles has two rules: 1. Don't ask about my past and 2. Don't expect a future.
This book was very different than anything I've ever read. I wasn't the biggest fan of the way the parts from Miles past were written but it made it easy to take in a lot of information in very few words. (if that makes sense) If I were to compare this book to another it would be 'The Air He Breathes' by Brittainy Cherry. Ugly Love completely rips at your heart, you find yourself with tears in your eyes, and so many emotions. At chapter 12 I had to put the book down and just think about whether I wanted to keep reading it, if I was ready to be completely wrecked by the book. I'm glad I finished reading it, cause while it does wreck you emotionally, you find yourself so warm and smiling too.
This was my first book by Colleen Hoover, and yes, I know I'm tardy to the party with reading it. I found interest in the book when I found out it's going to become a movie with Nick Bateman playing Miles Archer. It is weird how from the moment you start reading the description of Miles, you immediately think of Nick Bateman, he fits it so perfectly, like he was born to be this character.
Below is the official Ugly Love teaser trailer for the upcoming movie that will be shot later this year.
I mean really, if you read this book, how perfect is Nick for this role? It's just too good to be real. I'm curious to know who they will cast as Tate, I keep seeing it'll be Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries but I hope not. I'm seeing more of someone along the lines of Ashley Green or Lily Collins playing the role. I'm also curious who will be Rachel cause it needs to be someone a tad lovable but very easy to hate too.
