I'm going to say this, and I'll probably get some backlash but, Turbulence might be better than Ugly Love.
You guys know I LOVE Ugly Love ... I've re-read it at least 10 times, bought it for gifts for people, recommend it, wait with baited breath for news of the movie, I. LOVE. IT. however, nothing is perfect. I always wanted a little more from Ugly Love and Turbulence gives me that MORE!
This book is so hot too, like panty wetting, running down your leg hot. There's just enough "ohh, will they get caught?" taboo that makes it even sexier add in how effin' hot Jake is and yep, new panties please!
Let's talk about Jake and Gillian. They might be one of my favorite couples of all times. Jake is your typical alpha with a scarred past that has him completely closed off from society. He's the cockiest of bastards all while being the complete dream of every woman. Tall, dark hair, blue eyes that rival any ocean's waters. He's so mysterious but you know in that darkness there's something the broke him. Gillian is a sassy, smart girl with a determination that never falters. She may have been kicked while down one too many times but she's not giving up.
Throughout the story we meet Gillian's family who are bigger assholes than, well, anyone. The parts with her family, I find myself physically wanting to throat punch them all. They treat Gillian like the black sheep, which technically she is since she's the only dark-haired member of the family. After losing her dream job, apartment, and lifestyle over a controversy at work - Gillian is forced to live a lie to her family. They make bets with each other on when she'll be back home in Boston, to put her actual life together, so she knows she can't let them know she's a maid and flight attendant. Gillian has been assigned to clean the most secure penthouse, the one with the owner who is so anal he has security cameras everywhere. Gillian knows how to time herself so she is never seen on camera and when she knows the tenant is out of town, this apartment becomes her slip away sanctuary. After breaking up with her boyfriend, Meredith, Gillian's roommate, decides it is time for Gillian to get her slut on and have a one night stand. She sets her up at a rooftop party where Gillian bumps into a mysterious and sexy man. She decides to take him to her secret penthouse retreat, little does she know, the tenant that lives there, is the man she's taking back to it ...
I love the style in which this story was written as well. The story goes between both lead characters, flashbacks for both, emails, texts, and even blog posts. Never once though do you feel like, "wait what?" "when was this ..." "what's this part about?" she knows how to keep it light and with a steady pace. Adding in just the right amount of back story and insight to each character but not leaving your feeling overwhelmed with TOO much information. I love Gillian's roommate Meredith and Whitney G., if you take the time to read this, I'd love a spinoff about her! She's a model, wild, fun girl that would make a great little read of her own!
This book has everything you could want in an amazing romance read and then some! There's some heart stopping moments and tear-jerker moments too! If you love hot pilot alphas served with a side of sassy, determined heroine, then you need Turbulence! After you read it, don't forget about Turbulence 1.5 which is the epilogue to this read that will make you soar!
