“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.” ― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
Before we get started with my list, let's get ourselves in the proper mindset ...
"His hands are in your hair, his blue eyes looking deep into yours after he broke from the kiss that stole your breath. He has you pressed up against the wall right outside the bedroom. The only sound in house is both of your hearts beating as one. You pull him into you again and his lips take over, swallowing the moan that tries to escape your mouth. "I don't think I can make it to the bed." He gasps as he separates his lips from yours. You chuckle, "It's been a long time since you fucked me up against a wall."
A devilish smile appears across his face and the blue of his eyes deepens, "Time to fix that .." with one deft motion he slides his hand under your skirt and rips your pantyhose. His other arm is tightly wrapped around your waist keeping you pinned. Your hands have already begun to unbutton his shirt and zip down his pants. Thankful for the strong muscle of a man your husband is, you wrap your legs around his waist to get closer to him. He grips your ass and thrusts into you ... "
Now that we're all hot and bothered, let's get into this list!
PS. This post is filtered with many Henry Cavill gifs for added enjoyment.
I've read a lot of amazing, sexy, fun, heart-warming, purely fantastic books this year! I'm not one to rank things cause all these books were sooooo good!! The top 5 though, holy melt your panties off, were they freaking amazing! I literally had to stop myself after awhile cause I kept naming book after book. Ha. Okay, let's quick stalling and dive right in!
The Air He Breathes by Brittainy Cherry - This is a standalone novel but part of a 4-series involving the elements. This is the beautifully broken story of Tristan and Lizzy. This book will make you laugh, cry, and scream. It's so tortured and painful but it's absolutely beautiful. If you read one book this year it needs to be The Air He Breathes.
Mechanic by Alexa Riley - This was my first book ever by Alexa and it's what has hooked me to her writing. The story of Paine and Penelope is much unlike anything you've ever read. It's a short, erotic, passionate read. I find it to be a night in shining armor story but told in a very dirty way.
The Club Series (Books 1 - 7) by Lauren Rowe - OH. MY. GOD. These books. They will blow you're freakin mind ... but in a good way. I have literally never come across anything so good in my life. Lauren Rowe's writing is amazing, passionate, erotic, tantalizing, and energetic. The best way I found to describe it is that she makes you the luckiest fly on the wall while witnessing the lives of these characters unfold. The series starts off with Jonas Faraday and Sarah Cruz, two very passionate and a little messed up people. The story also follows the lives of Sarah's best friend Kat and Jonas' brother Josh. As if this story wasn't enough, Lauren wrote three more books following Josh & Kat's story that will come out at the beginning of January. You will literally feel every emotion known to man while reading this series.
Collide & Pulse by Gail McHugh - These two books were the first books I read after finishing the Fifty Shades series and the Crossfire series. This is the story of Emily, Dillon, and Gavin is purely lust, pain, and true love. I'll be honest, Collide is a little difficult to read once you hit the middle of the book BUT KEEP GOING. Not every story develops exactly the way you want it to and I think that's why I was getting frustrated. Pulse is the best book out of the two ... I can't even put into words the way that book and the overall story made me feel. Gavin is by far one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. I'm going to warn you that Pulse will literally rip your heart out at one point, completely. I read the last chapters in my pool over the summer and I wanted to drown the book, I was that upset and mad. That being said, you MUST READ these two books, unlike anything you'll read. Truly an amazing, passionate story.
Filthy Beautiful Series by Kendall Ryan - Ohhh, this series. I don't know how many times these books came up in my Amazon recommendations. Once I read the blurb about the story I was like, 'oh hell no'. This is the story of Colton and Sophie, two people very much in need of finding each other. Sophie's twin sister is dying from stage 4 cancer and she will go to any length to get the money needed for her sister's treatment. Her final option is to auction her virginity at a high-rollers auction. She's purchased by Colton Drake, a young man needing to fill a void in his life. When Sophie enters Colton's world he doesn't know what's happening, she's bringing changes to him he thought were long dead and gone. The first two books of this series focus solely on Colton and Sophie but there are mentions of his brothers Pace and Collins. Book 3 focuses on Pace & Kylie and book 4 focuses on Collins and Mia, both books still mention Colton and Sophie as well. This series, again, like others above, will have you laughing, crying, saying "aww" ... every emotion possible. I just LOVE these characters and the 3 leading men of this series. I found myself wanting to be one of the girls so I could be part of it. The start of this book might be a little taboo but the story is anything but that, it's just a great, sexy, passionate read.
The rest of my favorites are by no means in any particular order ... Beautiful Bastard Series by Christina Lauren - This was my first series after reading Fifty Shades. From page one I was hooked and desperately wanted to walk into an office at work and find Bennett to be his Chloe. Our two main characters HATE each other but they love to hate each other. Chloe is Bennett's intern and when he finally has her their hate for each other goes to epic proportions while trying to figure out their life outside the office and not ruining what they have. This series can be a little confusing since it's intertwined within about 8 other books. I do believe the authors finally singled out the whole series about Bennett and Chloe so it's easier to know which books to read. This series will make you laugh out loud and melt your panties. Bennett and Chloe are extremely lovable, sexy, and personable.
Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day - After reading the Beautiful Bastard series I read this series upon recommendation from my best friend. If you want something very, very close to Fifty Shades this is for you. Gideon and Eva are much more in depth than Christian and Ana with their backgrounds. They have two of the most fucked up lives and find peace within each other. There's a ton of times during this series that you want to throw in the towel but there's something that keeps you going. The secondary characters are great as well even though some you'd love to see their eternal end. I'm desperately awaiting the final book, One With You, that comes out in April.
Grey by E. L. James - I freakin loved this book! I love Christian, he to this day is my favorite book boyfriend. I loved reading the story from his point of view. He's a lot deeper and even kind of funny when you hear it from him. Many people complained it was retelling the same story, well no shit, it is the same story Ana tells but from his view. You really get a great sense why he's 50 shades of fucked up. I hope E.L. James writes the other books from Christian's view too.
Priest by Sierra Simone - Oh, forgive me Father for I have sinned. I'm Protestant but I spent 8 years in Catholic School, I often blame my bad side (the good kind of bad) from those 8 years. Priest is about Father Bell, a man who's recovering from finding his sister after she hung herself and the truths that came forward after. He turns to the priesthood in hopes of helping the community and to answer his true calling. While giving his usual weekly confessions, Poppy, a new girl in town comes in and there's immediate electricity between them. He hasn't even seen her, just heard her and he's ready to have her. This is an extremely taboo, sexy, raw, sometimes sleazy read but holy mother of god is it good! Sierre published Midnight Mass over Christmas that gives more of Father Bell and Poppy's story.
Snow & Mistletoe by Alexa Riley - I could have easily put every book by Alexa on this list but I tortured myself and picked my ultimate favorite. This little holiday tales tells of Alex and Noelle, two people stuck in their own little worlds, not dealing with too many outsiders. Both are so drawn to each other but think they will never meet, that is until Christmas Eve when a snow storm knocks out Noelle's internet. She has to get her latest recording to Alex, with the snow coming down harder and harder she drives to his house to deliver it personally. Alex can't believe Noelle is standing in his driveway, not letting her go back out in the bad weather he let's her stay at his place, hoping she isn't too scared when she sees his appearance. This story is so sweet and beautiful ... I could go on and on ... it's just so heartwarming. God, I love it!
The Stocking Was Hung by Tara Sivec - After Noel accidentally dumps her beer on Sam's pants, they find themselves airport friends while waiting for their flights home for Christmas. After chatting it up at the bar and finding out they are on the same flight, Noel asks Sam to come home with her, pose as her boyfriend and help her get through the holidays with her overbearing family. Sam doesn't have a family to go home to so he takes her up on the offer. While at Noel's parents place we meet the most bat shit crazy cast of characters ever ... they are so funny, lovable, sweet, and while a little annoying & over the top you know deep down they all love each other. Sam & Noel quickly find themselves falling for each other but both are too scared to bring it up. When Noel's REAL (ex)boyfriend shows up at the front door, all bets are off and Sam leaves ... will this be the first of many Christmases together or was it just a one-time bad idea that blows up in Noel's face? Freakin love, love, love this book! It's so funny, like laugh out loud hysterical funny. There's truly heartwarming moments mixed in too. I want to read more of Noel & Sam ... they are just amazing characters.
In The Shadows Series (Mister Black, Scarlett Red, Blackest Red A Billionaire Seal Story) by PT. Michelle - Sebastian and Talia ... their love story is just crazy, breathtaking, unique, and beautiful. Talia meets Sebastian as a young girl while she's running away from her life as it burns to the ground. Sebastian is her knight in shining armor, rescuing her from the freezing cold rain. He knows she's hiding something but he can't get it from her and they part ways. Years later Talia runs into her Mister Black at a masquerade party and after a night of pure lust they recognize each other. Talia becomes a writer and while on a special get-a-way she runs into a man that reminds her much of Mister Black who is extremely protective of her. This story has murder, betrayal, long-lost love, mystery, and pure passion. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
Lev: A Shot Callers Novel by Belle Aurora - This book is truly different from any other romance novel I've ever read. There's sex in it but it's not one of the main characters. Lev finds Mina when she's trying to steal his brother's wallet. He gives her 3 options, one being to come home with him until she gets back on her feet. After years of living on the streets that's the option Mina chooses. Lev isn't your typical alpha male, there's something different about him, at times I'd say he has a touch of OCD or could be autistic ... whatever it is, you fall immediately in love with him. The book is mostly told by Lev or Mina but every now and then a chapter will be told from one of his families points of view. This book also has some mafia ties in it but it's not over done, I'm not big on mafia stories and needless to say I LOVED this book. If you're looking for a sexy and different kind of romance novel get Lev.
Kian by Tijan - Kian is set to inhert billions of dollars from his families fortunes until one night he kills to protect Jo. Even though it was a result of defense, Kian is sent to prison and when he gets out his one goal is to get to Jo, not to harm her or make her pay but to be his finally. There's more mystery to this book but filled with romance and the fight Kian has to go through to get Jo. There's the backstabbing college friends, the press, family drama, and raw love. It's another truly different romance novel and worth the read.
One More Shot by Victoria Denault - My first hockey romance book! Oh the love I have for this book! One Last Shot is about Jordan and Jessie, both of whom grew up together and have always been in love with each other. After a night of firsts at the end of high school, Jordan gets drafted by the NHL and appears on screen accepting his new career with his ex girlfriend crushing Jessie. Years later after the death of her grandmother brings Jessie and her sisters back to town she's once again face-to-face with Jordan. What I loved about this book was the futuristic take on hockey teams. There's always talk about there being teams in Seattle, Vegas and other cities and this book brings that to life. Now, if you're here for romance, what I loved about that is the raw nature between Jordan and Jessie. There are times I think the past gets a little too revisited but it really helps build the ending and the characters.
Pucked by Helena Hunting - Oh Alex Waters ... oh how I love you. Pucked came to me in my Amazon recommendations after reading One Last Shot. After reading the blurb online I knew I needed to be pucked. Alex Waters is the Captain of the Hawks and after a 'tongue fucking' session with his teammates stepsister, Violet, he finds himself falling for her. Violet is literally me in character form, we're hockey fans but not puckbunnies. Violet knows of the bad boy reputation Alex has but she's willing to put her heart on the line and hope not to get it crushed. When Alex does an interview, answering to please his agent, he loses the biggest most important thing to him ... Violet. This book is raw, dirty, hockey sex. I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to read the rest of the series!
Reasonable Doubt Series by Whitney Gracia Williams - This little three book series was absolutely amazing! I read it in a day and a half, I couldn't put it down. "Thoreau" and "Alyssa" become friends on a lawyer website and after some time they both start to like each other. "Thoreau" has trust issues, he doesn't care who you are, you can never break his trust. "Alyssa" is an honest girl just trying to get her start in the law world. Her little lie, when it comes face-to-face with "Thoreau" blows up in both their faces. Even through the lies they cannot break of each other. Another story that keeps your on the edge of your seat the entire time. There's so much loss, passion, and heartwarming moments. A great quick read of a series!
Stepbrother with Benefits by Mia Clark - My first stepbrother romance series! It's what started it all! Ethan and Ashley are step siblings and over summer break while they are alone in the house they make a pack to have a passionate, crazy sex affair for ONE WEEK. Quickly their love affair digs deeper into the lust they have always had for each other, way before they became siblings. What I loved about this series, other than the raw sex, was the way the characters are actually talking to you. It's a very different take, it goes between Ashley and Ethan but instead of them telling their story overall, they tell it straight to YOU. Fun, sexy, rough, raw, and oh my is Ethan one sexy man.
My Stepbrother's Arrangement by Juliette Jaye - This might be my favorite stepbrother series ... ever! Kaleb and Olivia find themselves working together at his father's office. There's a couple twists and turns in this book as well as some 'dark spots' where I wish the author would have written a little more detail. I also hated how the last book just kind of ended but it didn't leave you hanging, you just wish there was more to read. Kaleb and Olivia have so much to overcome and their fight is beyond intriguing to read.
The Hotel Series by Lola Darling - Dominic Rexford is the CEO of a big hotel in Chicago, Juliet is an intern and about dies when she sees Dom on the first day. Juliet covers for her friend who works undercover when she becomes ill. She needs to seduce a guy, get some photos taken and be on her way. The man in question in Dominic and after the photos are taken they have a lustful hot night. There's many twists and turn when Dom finds out about Juliet is heartbreaking but keeps your reading in hopes they can work things out. There's so many OMG moments and hot passion. A quick read of a series but so, so fun!
The Panty Whisperer by Sloane Howell - Joel Hannover is not just a panty whisperer, he's a panty melter. I want to walk into a bar or restaurant and have him notice me and work me over the hood of his hot car. The first couple stories are all the same, Joel finding a woman, taking her to the ultimate pleasure and moving on to the next ... that is until he meets Quinn but guess what? Quinn rejects him and for the first time in a long time, Joel finds himself a mess over a girl. Very raw, naughty, lustful, panty melting read.
AND THERE THEY ARE ... MY FAVORITE READS OF 2015!
